Supervised Medical Weight Loss Programs

At Genesis Lifestyle Medicine in Denver, we’re proud to offer Zepbound® (tirzepatide) as part of our physician-supervised medical weight loss programs. This innovative treatment may assist patients with managing their weight by influencing metabolic functions that affect appetite and glucose regulation. Our experienced medical team works closely with each patient to build a personalized plan designed to support lasting results and promote overall well-being.

A New Tool for Weight Management

Zepbound is a prescription medication approved by the FDA for chronic weight management in adults who are classified as obese or overweight and have at least one related health condition.

It acts similarly to naturally occurring gut hormones to help reduce appetite, promote a sense of fullness, and aid in blood sugar regulation. When used alongside dietary changes and increased physical activity, some patients have experienced significant weight loss—potentially up to 20% of their body weight.*

While Zepbound is generally well tolerated, some users may experience side effects. The most commonly reported include nausea, constipation, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach discomfort, indigestion, gas, tiredness, hair thinning, heartburn, and localized reactions at the injection site.

Zepbound is not recommended for individuals with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma (MTC) or those diagnosed with Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2 (MEN 2).

How Zepbound May Help With Weight Loss

Tirzepatide, the active ingredient in Zepbound, mimics gut hormones that help regulate appetite and metabolism. Specifically, it activates GLP-1 and GIP receptors—two naturally occurring peptides that signal satiety, delay stomach emptying, and support glucose balance. These mechanisms help patients feel full sooner and longer, which can lead to reduced food intake and gradual weight loss.

In addition to appetite control, Zepbound may enhance insulin sensitivity and aid in stabilizing blood glucose, making it a potentially valuable option for individuals managing insulin resistance or early-stage type 2 diabetes. Its ability to influence multiple metabolic pathways makes it a strong candidate for weight management in eligible adults.

What to Expect at Our Denver Location

Your Zepbound journey starts with a comprehensive in-person consultation at our Denver clinic. During this visit, our medical team will review your health history, evaluate your weight goals, and conduct any necessary lab testing. If you’re a good candidate, you’ll be instructed on how to self-administer Zepbound using a user-friendly injection pen once weekly—typically in the thigh or abdominal area.

The dosage will be adjusted over time based on your body’s response, with your provider closely monitoring for optimal effectiveness and minimal discomfort.

Insurance and Zepbound

Insurance policies differ when it comes to coverage for Zepbound. Some private insurance plans may offer partial or full coverage, often requiring prior authorization. Medicare may also cover the medication under certain criteria. Our team can assist in checking your benefits and navigating insurance requirements.

Zepbound FAQs

When will I start seeing results?

Some patients begin noticing changes within a few weeks of starting Zepbound, particularly when it’s combined with dietary improvements and exercise. More substantial results may become visible after 2 to 3 months of continuous use.

Is Zepbound safe to use?

Zepbound has been studied extensively in clinical trials and is FDA-approved for weight management. It may cause side effects in some individuals, and serious risks—such as thyroid tumors—are possible in rare cases. You should not use Zepbound if you or your family members have a history of certain thyroid cancers. Always consult with a qualified provider to evaluate your risk.

How often is Zepbound taken?

Zepbound is taken once per week using a disposable, prefilled injection pen. Injection sites may be rotated between the thigh, abdomen, or upper arm.

What if I miss a dose?

If you miss your scheduled injection, you can take it within 4 days (96 hours). If more time has passed, skip the missed dose and resume your normal schedule. Do not take two doses within 3 days of each other.
