What types of joint pain
treatments do we offer?
Genesis Lifestyle Medicine is one of Indiana’s premier providers of joint pain treatment. Depending on the nature of your condition, we recommend one of two procedures:
Joint pain therapy
Joint pain is usually an indication of a tear in your joint. If you don't fix this tear, the bones the injured joint connects to become very unstable and are at a huge risk of dislocation, fracture, or complete breakage.
Joint pain therapy is one of the best and safest treatments available for joint pain. Here, we use your own cellular material to heal and regenerate the cells of your joints. Our Genesis Lifestyle Medicine specialists harvest healthy joint cells from uninjured joints and tissues. We then graft the cells into the injury site and allow the cells to regenerate and fix the joint.
By using your own cellular material, we remove the risk of treatment rejection and ensure you have a successful outcome. Within a matter of weeks, you’ll experience better joint flexibility and strength.
Platelet-Rich Plasma therapy
If your joint pain results from osteoarthritis, you may find platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy to be more beneficial than joint pain therapy. Studies show that PRP inhibits inflammation at the pain site and also slows down the advancement of joint diseases like arthritis.
PRP uses your blood plasma to heal damaged joints. The plasma is rich in growth factors, proteins, and nutrients, which are essential for cellular regeneration.
We first take a vial of blood from your body and place it in a centrifuge. Here, the plasma is separated from the red blood cells and we transfer it into a different container. This plasma is injected into the treatment site. Once infused into your joints, the healing factors in the plasma help replace old and damaged cells, allowing you to strengthen and heal your joints.
A quick and minimally-invasive treatment
At Genesis Lifestyle Medicine, our priority is your comfort and convenience. Before we start the treatment, we will speak to you so as to understand your unique medical history. Based on this information, we choose the anesthesia and the right joint pain treatment.
During the consultation, we will inform you of the treatment date. On the day, you are administered the localized numbing agent and the cells/blood are harvested from you, depending on the procedure being done. Once we have the syringes ready, we use an ultrasound machine to help us navigate through the deep tissues and muscles, to the treatment site. The injection may be done in a single treatment site or multiple sites, depending on your medical needs. The entire procedure can be completed in under 2 hours.
You will be asked to lie still for a period of time to allow the treatment to settle. You may experience minor stiffness and tenderness at the treatment site immediately after the procedure. We recommend that you get a driver to take you back home. You'll begin to feel the effects of the treatment a few weeks after the procedure. Slowly, your joint pain will reduce, and you'll regain the strength and flexibility you had before the joint injury/condition.
