Alex Spinoso - Co-Founder, CEO
Dr. Alex Spinoso is an MD, entrepreneur, husband, and father to triplets and their younger sister. He is co-founder and Co-CEO of Genesis Lifestyle Medicine and is a consultant for a number of multi-million-dollar companies, helping them scale their businesses. Alex has been a part of over 50+ medical clinics through startups, partnerships, consulting, and acquisitions during this time. In Alex’s tenure, Genesis and his other clinics have helped well over 125,000+ patients with their health needs.
In his early years, Dr. Spinoso worked in the California prison system as an MD on a general population yard. Over the years, his desire to create something more led him to create Genesis Lifestyle Medicine. He has worn the caps of nearly all positions, including CEO, COO, marketer, CFO, visionary, integrator, etc., which taught him how to stay lean as a company and understand the dynamics of the medical world.
Growing up on a farm in the middle of Northern California, Alex is no stranger to grit, hard work, and a “can-do” attitude. He attended Ivy League Dartmouth College.
Brent Messer - Co-Founder, CEO
Brent Messer, Genesis’s Co-Founder and Co-CEO, has grown both cash-pay and insurance-based businesses from the ground up for over 13 years. Brent has been a part of over 40+ medical clinics through startups, partnerships, consulting, and acquisitions during this time. Brent started Genesis with just $150,000 and has now rolled that up into a multi-eight-figure medical company that is growing at a rapid pace, with goals of expansion through private equity or its own IPO in the coming years.
In Brent’s tenure, Genesis and his other clinics have helped well over 125,000+ patients with their health needs. Brent spent his early years in business learning and understanding how to acquire patients at a positive ROI. This led Brent to take every class he could find on Google Analytics, Google AdWords, Facebook marketing, SEO, etc., as he ran the ads for all his businesses.
He has now handed over this role to numerous digital marketing companies he helps oversee, so he can be more involved in the operations of clinics spread throughout the United States and help his 100+ employees solve problems that come up throughout the workday. In Brent’s early years, he wore the caps of all positions, including CEO, marketer, CFO, visionary, etc., which taught him how to stay lean as a company and understand the dynamics of retail medicine.
Genesis has four more clinics set to open in the next two quarters, with sights on growing verticals that include compounding pharmacies, bloodwork and lab companies, and a nationwide telemedicine company to further support expansion and control the customer experience from the first touch to the last touch.
Brent attended Middle Tennessee State University on a full athletic scholarship and studied Exercise Physiology and Nutrition. Brent’s passion for health and wellness led him to create his first clinic in 2010, helping patients lose weight and balance their hormones.
Kara McClanahan - VP of Operations
Kara McClanahan, MBA, MHA, CMPE, is the Vice President of Operations at Genesis Lifestyle Medicine and brings nearly 30 years of senior operational leadership and healthcare practice management experience. Kara has worked across aesthetic, dermatology, neurology, and plastic surgery settings and has been a part of scaling large, multi-site healthcare organizations nationwide.
Throughout her career, Kara has served as Vice President of Operations for a 57-practice organization, Practice Administrator, Vice President of Sales in the medical device and skincare industries, and founder of a consulting firm focused on optimizing medical aesthetic operations. Her background spans clinical workflow design, staffing models, revenue cycle optimization, and building scalable systems that allow practices to grow while maintaining exceptional patient experiences.
Kara is a Board-Certified Medical Practice Executive (CMPE) and holds advanced degrees in both business and healthcare administration. She is widely respected as an industry KOL, consultant, speaker, and sales trainer for cosmetic manufacturers and distributors. Beyond her professional work, Kara founded and led the nonprofit Beauty for Good and created Empower Esthetics, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting women in aesthetics through mentorship, community service, and educational grants.
At Genesis, Kara leads the development of operational systems, SOPs, KPIs, and infrastructure across existing and new clinic locations. She works closely with physicians and clinical leadership to ensure operations align with lifestyle medicine protocols and a patient-first culture. Kara is passionate about building high-performing teams, scalable systems, and operational excellence that supports Genesis’ mission to help people live longer, healthier, more engaged lives.
Sean Burleson - VP of HR
Sean Burleson serves as Vice President of Human Resources for Genesis Lifestyle Medicine, bringing more than 25 years of progressive leadership experience. His career began in the military and corporate security fields before he found his true calling in human resources, where he discovered deep fulfillment in developing people, strengthening teams, and shaping healthy workplace cultures.
Throughout his career, Sean has been most energized by the impact he makes through caring for people and coaching leaders to experience the transformative power of influential leadership, both professionally and personally. He holds master’s degrees in business and organizational management as well as human resources management, and he is known for his passion, relentless drive, and commitment to exceptionally high standards.
Sean believes the strongest organizations are built by earning employee commitment rather than relying on compliance. He continuously coaches leaders to foster engaged, high-trust, and high-performing teams where individuals feel safe, valued, and empowered to take initiative and contribute fully.
Genesis is his garden, but anyone who knows Sean sees that his wife and two children are the greatest source of his happiness.
Molly Caneday - Senior Director of Marketing
Molly Caneday, MBA, is the Senior Director of Marketing at Genesis Lifestyle Medicine, bringing over 16 years of healthcare marketing leadership experience across multi-site organizations. She has led marketing strategy for a 50-location dental support organization (DSO) and supported regional growth initiatives within a national MSO, helping healthcare platforms grow thoughtfully while keeping patients and teams at the center of every initiative.
Her experience spans dental, orthopedics, spine, vein, neurosurgery, neurology, and wellness practices. Molly focuses on multi-location growth strategy, brand development and unification, performance marketing, and new patient acquisition. She has supported private equity-backed expansion through rebrand initiatives and the implementation of data-driven marketing systems that strengthened patient growth and long-term retention.
Molly believes the strongest results come from empowered, collaborative teams. She is passionate about fostering a culture of trust, accountability, and continuous learning, while building marketing systems that support sustainable growth and create meaningful, connected experiences for patients throughout their care journey.
Ashleigh McIntyre - Regional Director - West
Ashleigh McIntyre is the Regional Director for the Western region, bringing more than 15 years of experience across event and project management, medical aesthetics operations, sales, and multi-location team leadership.
Throughout her career, Ashleigh has successfully led complex operations, managed cross-functional teams, and driven growth through thoughtful planning, organization, and relationship building. She is highly skilled at aligning teams with organizational goals and translating vision into clear, actionable strategies across diverse markets.
Known for her people-first yet performance-driven leadership style, Ashleigh excels at coaching leaders, developing succession-ready teams, and fostering cultures rooted in ownership and continuous improvement. She leads with clarity, confidence, and empathy while maintaining high standards of excellence.

Gianna Fusco, Regional Director - West
Gianna Fusco is a Regional Director with Genesis Lifestyle Medicine, overseeing multiple clinic locations across the Central United States and California. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a dual major in Health Administration, allowing her to bridge clinical knowledge with operational leadership.
Gianna joined Genesis Lifestyle Medicine six years ago, drawn to the organization’s individualized, wellness-focused approach and its mission to improve quality of life rather than simply treat symptoms. Over the years, she advanced from Front Desk Associate to Clinic Director and now oversees nine locations across her region.
Her leadership focus includes patient experience, regulatory compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and DEA standards, operational efficiency, and team development. Known by colleagues as dedicated, approachable, and highly accountable, Gianna brings a structured leadership style, strong integrity, and a commitment to continuous growth. Gianna proudly embraces her inner nerd, staying current on medical research, best practices, and innovative strategies that elevate both teams and clinics.
Her goal is to build confident leaders, develop high-performing teams, and ensure Genesis Lifestyle Medicine continues to set the standard for wellness care in the communities it serves.
Kera O'String - Regional Director - East
Kera O’String has been with Genesis Lifestyle Medicine since 2014 and currently serves as Regional Director. She began her career as a Medical Assistant and advanced through leadership roles by consistently supporting patient care excellence and team development.
Kera is passionate about helping patients and staff feel supported and empowered. She values meaningful relationships and finds fulfillment in mentoring others as they grow professionally and personally.
She married her high school sweetheart, and together they have four children. Outside of work, Kera enjoys spending time with her family, shopping, and reading.
