DR. ALEX SPINOSO, MD

Dr. Alex Spinoso, MD, is a family medicine physician, entrepreneur, author, and speaker. His work comes back to a question most clinicians face sooner or later: how do you do work that matters without losing your health, your family, or your sanity along the way? Over the past several years, he and his teams have cared for tens of thousands of patients. He is the founder and CEO of Genesis Lifestyle Medicine, a national medical and aesthetic group focused on improving patient health and quality of life. Through years of building and leading healthcare organizations, Alex has developed a deep understanding of the challenges that come with balancing clinical excellence, organizational growth, and personal well-being. He has built several healthcare businesses to seven, eight, and nine figures. Today he teaches physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and practice leaders through Spinoso Medical Empires, the mastermind community he founded. He covers the leadership, operations, and decision-making that keep a practice healthy, and the people inside it too. He has spoken from the stages of BTL, Elite NP, AICC, and others.

Alex took the long road into medicine. He grew up in a small house outside Sacramento, California, where he learned early that the path to success isn’t always straightforward and that setbacks don’t have to determine your future. At 13, a torn ACL threatened his soccer career, and the first doctor he saw told him he would never play at a high level again. A second surgeon wouldn’t accept that verdict, and Alex not only returned to the field but went on to earn a full-ride Division I soccer scholarship. He became a doctor because of that surgeon. He earned his BS from Dartmouth College and his MD from St. George’s University School of Medicine, studying in England and Grenada and doing rotations across the United States. He applied to some 40 family medicine residencies and completed his residency at Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, California. He then practiced prison medicine and family medicine before opening his first clinic as a broke young doctor, living off Aldi groceries in a tiny Las Vegas townhome.

The years after that taught him as much about himself as about medicine or business. Building and leading healthcare organizations exposed weaknesses in his leadership, his systems, and his own health. The constant pressure of managing businesses, caring for patients, and carrying the responsibility of leadership put him in the hospital more than once. Those experiences forced him to reconsider what success actually meant and how easily ambition can consume the very things a person is working to protect. Some of the hardest decisions of his career involved learning when to push forward, when to change direction, and when to recognize that doing more isn’t always the same as accomplishing more. Those lessons shaped the message he now passes on: the loudest demands are rarely the most important ones. Today he helps clinicians and leaders make hard decisions early, protect what matters most, and take control of what they can while letting go of what they can’t.

Alex hosts the Medical Empires podcast, where he pairs real-world strategy with raw personal honesty, told through pop culture, history, and sports. The show covers the mindset challenges every healthcare leader faces, from burnout and anxiety to building a healthy team culture. He is the author of How to Conquer What You Can Control (And Let Go of What You Can’t): A Guide to Beating Anxiety and Building Your Business, as well as several booklets for healthcare professionals. He loves comic books and Broadway musicals and is out to disrupt toxic alpha-bro culture. Alex shares his life with his wife, Stephanie, and their four children, including triplets. Across nearly two decades of practicing medicine, building organizations, and coaching leaders, one conviction has stayed at the center of his work: nobody is coming to save you, but you were never meant to do this alone.
