What happens during the CoolSculpting treatment?
During your CoolSculpting procedure, you can lie down and relax in a reclining chair for 30 to 120 minutes, depending on your treatment areas. The cosmetic provider will place a gel pad on your skin and place the CoolSculpting applicators on the gel pads. When activated, the CoolSculpting applicators will produce a gentle suction force and intensely cold temperatures to freeze the unwanted fat cells.
Everyone has a different degree of tolerance to cold temperatures, but most patients find the procedure comfortable. In most cases, the “discomfort” comes from the strangeness of the sensation rather than pain. After the first 15 minutes, once your body is accustomed to the sensation, you can simply lounge back and relax. Some patients also sleep through the procedure.
After removing the CoolSculpting applicators, the cosmetic provider will massage the treatment area for a few minutes to break up the frozen fat cells. Some patients only need one session, while others might need more.
